Feng Fei Meets Prof. Markus Venzin, CEO of EHL

On April 29, Feng Fei, Secretary of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee, met in Haikou with Prof. Markus Venzin, CEO of EHL Group, and his delegation.

Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Hainan Provincial Government, Feng Fei expressed appreciation for EHL’s long-term support of education development in Hainan. He noted that Hainan Lausanne Tourism University, established by EHL as its first independent higher education institution outside Switzerland, has made a strong start since opening admissions last September and has already become one of the landmark international education projects within the Hainan Free Trade Port. He added that the official launch of island-wide customs operations under the Free Trade Port framework has created new opportunities for international collaboration and educational development.

Feng Fei emphasized that Hainan’s ambition to become a leading international tourism destination will require a new generation of globally minded professionals. He expressed hope that both sides would continue strengthening cooperation and further develop Hainan Lausanne Tourism University into a leading example of international education collaboration between China and Switzerland, while also supporting the long-term development of Hainan’s tourism and hospitality industries. He also reaffirmed Hainan’s commitment to supporting the university’s continued growth and development.

Prof. Markus Venzin congratulated Hainan on the progress of the Free Trade Port and spoke positively about the development of Hainan Lausanne Tourism University. He explained that EHL selected Hainan for its first independently operated campus outside Switzerland because of the region’s international outlook and long-term development potential.

Drawing on EHL’s global expertise in hospitality management education, he said the group will continue working closely with its partners to cultivate internationally competitive talent and contribute to the future development of Hainan’s tourism and hospitality sector.
