EHL’s involvement in its collaboration with HLTU is primarily academic.
EHL provides academic leadership in areas such as curriculum design, quality assurance, faculty development, and assessment standards, ensuring that the Bachelor of Science in Tourism & Hospitality Management delivered at HLTU is aligned with EHL’s global academic framework.
Through this strategic academic partnership, EHL supports HLTU in delivering an education that reflects Swiss hospitality education excellence, global standards, and strong industry relevance, while HLTU remains an independent university in China.

English is the primary language of instruction. A small number of compulsory courses required by the Chinese Ministry of Education are taught in Chinese. English proficiency is a key admission requirement, and language support is embedded throughout the curriculum.
The HLTU Bachelor program is built on EHL’s world-renowned educational philosophy, and graduates receive an official degree from EHL Hospitality Business School, carrying the same international recognition and strong industry value as if they had studied on EHL’s main campuses. Students benefit from EHL’s proven approach to learning — including hands-on projects, real industry experience, and internships — while also gaining insights that are relevant to China’s fast-growing hospitality, tourism, and service sectors. The program fully meets Chinese Ministry of Education requirements and includes content tailored to the opportunities emerging in Hainan. The diploma clearly indicates that studies were completed at HLTU, but it reflects the same high standards, reputation, and career advantages associated with an EHL degree.
No. Career opportunities for HLTU students will go far beyond hotels and tourism. Because they follow the same high-quality EHL program and academic standards, HLTU graduates are well-prepared for a wide range of careers — both within the hospitality sector and in many other fields. EHL graduates are highly sought after in industries such as luxury, real estate, finance, retail, consulting, and other service-driven sectors where customer experience, leadership, and service excellence are essential. HLTU students benefit from these same opportunities thanks to the strong reputation, versatile curriculum, and internationally recognized skills developed through the EHL educational model.
To be eligible, students must score above their provincial undergraduate cutoff line and achieve at least 100 in English. We admit students based on their total score ranking within the province’s quota. Please note: meeting the English requirement is a prerequisite for enrollment.
For provinces adopting the “3+1+2” New Gaokao model, the Culinary and Nutrition Education major requires applicants to have selected both Physics and Chemistry. Other majors have no specific elective requirements. Additionally, all applicants, regardless of their major, must achieve an English score of 100 or above.
At this stage, HLTU is exclusively open to Mainland Chinese students who have participated in the National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao). We encourage international and overseas Chinese applicants to stay tuned to our official platforms for future admission policy updates, which will be released in a timely manner.
Currently, HLTU does not conduct separate or independent entrance examinations. All applicants must apply through the National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao) system, and admission is based on Gaokao performance.
HLTU strictly adheres to national education regulations. Repeat students (Gaokao retakers) are eligible for admission under the same criteria as first-time applicants. Transfer students will be considered for admission provided they meet all relevant inter-provincial and institutional credit transfer requirements.
In accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education, all Chinese nationals must participate in the National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao) as a mandatory requirement for admission.
HLTU does not accept international curriculum scores (such as SAT, IB, AP, or ACT) in lieu of Gaokao results for Chinese applicants.
For students who have acquired foreign citizenship, they must comply with the relevant regulations for international students as stipulated by the competent authorities. Such applicants may apply as international students only after meeting the official identity verification and eligibility criteria.
