On May 10, 2026, Hainan Lausanne Tourism University (HLTU) hosted its 2026 Admissions Information Session in Guangzhou, marking the university’s first official undergraduate admissions event in Guangdong Province.
Families from across the Greater Bay Area attended the event to learn more about HLTU’s international approach to hospitality and tourism education and its industry-focused learning environment.

Dr. Luciano LOPEZ attended the event together with members of the university’s academic and admissions teams, as well as current HLTU students, to engage directly with prospective students and parents.

During the presentation, Dr. Luciano LOPEZ spoke about the changing landscape of hospitality and service industries and the growing demand for internationally minded talent in China and beyond. He explained how HLTU combines international academic standards with close connections to China’s evolving hospitality and tourism industries.
Founded with academic support from EHL Hospitality Business School, HLTU follows EHL’s academic framework across curriculum design, faculty development, teaching standards, and quality assurance. The university aims to prepare students for leadership roles across hospitality, luxury retail, tourism, finance, consulting, and real estate.
Rather than focusing on a single career pathway, HLTU emphasizes business knowledge, leadership development, practical learning, and international perspectives, helping students develop transferable skills applicable across a wide range of industries.

The admissions and academic teams also addressed questions from students and parents during the event, particularly around academic quality, career development support, and admissions requirements.
Academic Model
HLTU follows the academic model developed by EHL Hospitality Business School, with EHL involved in curriculum design, faculty standards, and academic quality assurance to ensure consistency with its global educational approach.
Industry Partnerships and Career Support
Through EHL’s international industry network, HLTU has established partnerships with leading companies across hospitality, luxury retail, tourism, and related service sectors. Students also receive career support throughout their studies, including career planning, CV clinics, mock interviews, recruitment events, and access to alumni networks.
Admissions and Scholarships
For 2026, HLTU is recruiting students from 19 provinces and regions across China and currently offers undergraduate programs in Hospitality Management and Culinary & Nutrition Education.
Applicants from Guangdong Province are required to meet the provincial undergraduate admission threshold and achieve a minimum English score of 100 in the national college entrance examination. The university also offers a range of scholarships, including full first-year tuition awards for outstanding students.

One parent attending the event shared that the session provided a much clearer understanding of HLTU’s educational approach and long-term student development model. The event also highlighted the university’s emphasis on practical learning, industry experience, and long-term career development.

As the Hainan Free Trade Port continues to develop, demand for internationally trained professionals across hospitality, tourism, luxury, and related service sectors is expected to continue growing in the coming years. With dual-degree qualifications and extensive practical learning opportunities, HLTU graduates will be well positioned for a wide range of international career pathways.
